Hi to all our dedicated readers. I hope everyone is doing well and taking time to create. I felt creative yesterday; so I created a birthday card for one of my granddaughters. I used the Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge again as I seem to do with all my creations lately. It is such a versatile cartridge (700 images) that you can use it for all your projects. I love the 100 cards you can create with it. I want to create more of the 3D flowers; but haven’t taken the time to do it lately. This cartridge includes 6 – 3D flowers; which I love. I have a video on my blog, midway down on the right hand side with a flower picture which was created by Mandy Leahy - CTMH Senior Director teaching you how to create the flowers. Watch this video and see how easy flower making can be at http://purpleglocreations.blogspot.com.
Here is a close up of a regular flower I created; which isn’t one of the 6 – 3D flowers. It is also found on the AP cartridge. You will have to excuse my imperfections. I was having difficulty with getting my words straight on my acrylic block as I have a problem with centering and straight lines. I decided not to redo it as I wasn’t feeling up to it yesterday. It looks like I felt yesterday. Ha!!
The sentiment I used is from the CTMH card word puzzle; which I use frequently. It can be found at the following link: http://purpleglocreations.ctmh.com/Retail/Product.aspx?ItemID=6537&CatalogID=675.
I purchased CTMH retired patterned card stock from another consultant; which I used to create this card. I wasn’t expecting 2 colors and a flower pattern on one side with 2 colors and a stripe on the opposite side of the 9 X 9 paper when I ordered it; but I really like it. It made creating this card so much easier.
Dimensions of images on this card:
Card base – 6 1/2 in. x 5 in. - using CTMH Cranberry card stock in the same size on the card front.
All images were cut using the AP cartridge.
Next layer was all one piece – 4 1/4 in. x 6 1/4 in.; but you could use two pieces of different colors/patterns - 4 in. plain color and 2 1/4 in. patterned card stock – using 1/4 in ribbon or 1/2 inch scalloped card stock between them as I did. (Scallop on pg 67 – font key – shift key – cut 2)
Stripe layer on right of card front – 2 1/4 in by 4 1/2 in.
Cranberry circle – Cut at 3 1/4 in. – pg 51 - AP cartridge handbook – Circle 4
Desert Sand circle – Cut at 1 1/2 in. – pg 51 – AP cart handbook – Circle 4
Desert Sand Banner - 1 1/2 in. – pg 29 – AP cart handbook – Banner 2
Bamboo Banner – 1 1/4 in. – pg 29 – AP cart handbook – Banner 2
Flowers - DCWV blue/red polka dot paper – 1 in and 1/2 in. Used cranberry card stock for center flower – cut at 3/4 in. – pg 29 – Shift key. This flower is easy to curl the edges up to give it more of a dimensional look.
Dimensionals used between the flowers and for the two circles. Glued the banners flat.
Bling – KC & Company
Ribbon for bow - 1/4 in. Craft Ribbon from Hobby Lobby – from my sister-in-law
